Project Description
These old and beaten up railway sleepers were made beautiful by flattening them and then engraved here in Cornwall for Chris Nangle Furniture. After receiving these delivered to his place of work in Shropshire, he has then turned them into these beautiful and professional benches for the improvement of Route 41 of the National Cycle Network, also known as the Lias Line which is a disused railway line. This makes these railway sleeper benches a perfect fit for the path.
Chris Nangle Furniture was dealing with Cornwall Reclaim, who are our neighbours where the workshop is based. Cornwall Reclaim supplies a wide array of timber products, and these railway sleepers were exactly what Chris and his team were already using for their project. Chris generally carves his own engravings by hand (and does a fine job of it), but with limited time, needed them done in a timely fashion which the CNC is perfect for. The beauty of the CNC is in its precise repeatability for the larger jobs.
